NAM NERN NIGHT SAFARI

Our adventure begins in the small village of Son Loua near Nam Et-Phou Louey National Park. After a brief about endangered wildlife the efforts made to stop illegal poaching, board a longtail boat up the Nam Nern River to our base camp. Along the way there is an abundance of birdlife, including eagles and kingfishers. In the evening boat is then guided downstream in the darkness with the engines cut, as the guides use head torches to point out wildlife such as sambar deer, slow loris and monitor lizards, an unforgettable experience.
DAY 1 MUANG HIAM
Mountain road to Muang Hiam
We depart Luang Prabang early and drive deep into the mountainous landscape of Northern Laos. The journey to the small town of Muang Hiam is around 7-8 hours, with stops on the way a viewpoints and lunch at local restaurant. Check-in to the guesthouse.
DAY 2 NAM ET-PHOU LOUEY
Wildlife Spotlighting
Travel to Ban Son Koua, meet your local guides and Kamu boatmen. Then depart by longtail up the Nam Nern River, with opportunities to spot monitor lizards and birdlife. The camp tonight is bamboo huts by the river. The spotlighting begins once it is totalally dark. Float down the river with engines off as the guides use their headlamps to spot wildlife, which may include Sambar deer, otters civits and various species of loris, porcupine and owls.
DAY 3 NONG KHIAW
To Nong Khiaw
Take a morning jungle walk learning about medicinal plants and the history of the site during the Secret War. After breakfast, board the boat and float back downstream with the engines off while the guides point out wildlife along the way. We then travel by road to the charming town of Nong Khiaw. Dinner and overnight at the resort.
DAY 4 LUANG PRABANG
To Luang Prabang
After breakfast we travel back to Luang Prabang, a journey of around 4 hours.
